DMCA Forces Microsoft-Owned Github To Take Down YouTube-dl Repositories

Github has taken down all repositories and sites hosting code for the popular utility `youtube-dl`, which allows you download and view YouTube videos without the tracking and the Ads, under pressure from the Record Industry Association of America.

If you care the slightest bit about Internet Freedom, please take 10 seconds to run the following command in your terminal:

Even if you’re not going to develop or distribute it, having the source with yourself means that the program will not disappear and it will become much harder to censor. A Philadelphia cop was hit by a pickup truck during protests over the deadly police shooting of a 27-year-old Black man

A 56-year-old Philadelphia Police officer being taken to the hospital after being struck by a pickup truck during protests

Protests erupted in Philadelphia ignited at night over the killing of a local Black man earlier that day.

Two police officers repeatedly shot Walter Wallace Jr., 27, in front of a crowd of onlookers after yelling at him to drop a knife. Wallace was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

During that night’s protests several local businesses were looted and vandalized, and police said a 56-year-old female officer was run over by a speeding pickup truck.

The officer was hospitalized overnight with a broken leg

At least 30 officers were injured in total that night.

More than 30 people were arrested that night.for various charges including looting and throwing rocks and bricks at the police.

LOL…. Was that an awkward silence, or just limited animation?

Prior to “Star Trek”, Gene Roddenberry’s biggest gig was writing for “Have Gun – Will Travel”.

I am sad to report that the worst episodes of HGWT are generally the Roddenberry episodes, in that his handling of women is poor even by the standards of other writers.

If he’s not depicting them mouthy broads who need to learn to shut up so they can get a husband, they are silent passive creatures who exist for Paladin to partake of like free samples at the grocery store.

I’ll be watching an episode of HGWT and someone says the most sexist thing I ever heard, and I say to myself, “yep, Roddenberry episode”.

All of that said … as a rule I don’t buy the “man of his time” argument; slaveowners may have been men of their time, but they were also recognized as monsters by their contemporaries, so they don’t get a pass.

Its kind of funny how WACKY RACES (as CHIKKI CHIKKI MACHINE MOU RACE) got a theme song in Japan, but the American version just has the race announcer going over the line-up as the opening.
